The series of matches traditionally taking place the day after Christmas (the so-called Boxing Day,) will be regularly disputed this year, despite the outburst of Covid-19 cases among Premier League players.
The decision was reached yesterday, during a videoconference where the various teamβs representatives discussed the possibility to postpone the scheduled matches to a still undefined date.
The reason behind the decision to maintain the original schedule was, according to different newspapers, the economic burden that the Boxing Day cancellation would have caused to the entire League, together with practical doubts about when those matches should have actually been disputed, since the Leagues calendar is already filled to the brim, especially for the teams competing in Champions, Europe and Conference League.
