Despite the postponement of three matches (Liverpool-Leeds, Wolverhampton-Watford, and Burnley-Everton), and the game between Tottenham and Crystal Palace hanging in the balance up until the very last minute due to the positivity of the Eagles’ coach Patrick Vieira, the traditional Premier League Boxing Day didn’t disappoint its spectators in terms of goals and emotions.
Manchester City earned its ninth consecutive victory, beating Leicester City with an exciting 6-3. After a one-sided first half, with the Citizens able to score four goals, the Foxes attempted what would have been an epic comeback, which, however, was controlled and avoided by Manchester City, not without any trouble.
In the other matches, Southampton edged West Ham, earning an important away winning (2-3), Arsenal got rid of Norwich with a clean 0-5, Tottenham bested Crystal Palace (3-0), and Chelsea overthrown Aston Villa (1-3) thanks to Jorginho (two penalties) and Romelu Lukaku.
