Filip Chytil Out for Season

Filip Chytil will be out for the rest of the New York Rangers hockey season with an upper body injury. He went down on a morning skate the day the Rangers lost 5-2 to the Las Vegas Golden Knights. He was helped off the ice by forward Jake Leschyshyn and defenseman Zac Jones. Chytil is now home in New York recovering.

"The organization's top priority throughout this process has been Filip's health, and we will continue to support him in his recovery with an aim to return for the 2024-25 season," - Team Statement

There was definitely some speculation of whether or not Chytil would be returning, but after the New York Rangers Twitter post this morning it was confirmed he would not be returning for this season.

"It's obviously tough," coach Peter Laviolette said after the game Friday. "He's an important piece to our team. He's a good young player for us, so it's tough to see that.”

He has been injured a few times this season already and this injury is seemed to be a result of his suspected concussion back earlier this season. He recently released a statement saying:

"It has been the hardest three months of my life and has not been easy for my family, closest people and of course for whole NY Rangers organization," "But we gotta stay positive even in these tough moments and just think what is ahead of us! Thanks to you all for nice messages! I'll come back stronger than ever!”

Overall he has a good season so far with six assists in ten games. Ultimately it is important for him to rest and recover and fully heal to be able to come back stronger than ever.
