Are the Eagles Falling apart?

After an impressive year and an NFC championship, the Philadelphia Eagles are faced with a lot of tough decisions this upcoming offseason. The Eagles took an “all-in” approach over the last two years, signing piece after piece to create the machine that was the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles squad. They had a stifling defense and the best run game in the league. The Eagles were able to march their way to the Super Bowl, but ultimately fell in a hard-fought game to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Howie Roseman’s strategy may have worked up to this point, but there is a good chance that it comes back to bite him going into next season. The Eagles simply cannot afford the number of free agents they have. Currently sitting at eight million dollars in cap space, the Eagles are tasked with bringing back players like Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, James Bradberry, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and T.J. Edwards to name a few. On offense, they assembled one of the greatest offensive lines we have seen in a very long time but it is at risk of crumbling during this free agency. Two starters from the line (Jason Kielce (center) and Isaac Seumalo (guard)) are set to hit free agency which makes the future of the Eagles even murkier. Not to mention they are likely to extend franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts before he is set to hit the free agency market in 2024. Hurts contract is projected to be upwards of $45-$50 million dollars a year, the Eagles become cash-strapped and limited in what they can do moving forward. While there is no doubt what the Eagles did this past season was impressive, did they stretch themselves too far?
