Cowboys Franchise Tag Tony Pollard

Dallas, Texas (PSF) - The Dallas Cowboys have just recently placed the franchise tag on pro bowl running back Tony Pollard after a career season in 2022. Pollard ran for 1,007 yards along with 9 touchdowns while still being a threat in the passing game with 371 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Under the franchise tag Pollard will be making $10 million next season which is well deserved for how good of a player he has been since he came into the league. Pollard has always been that electric rusher who brings a bolt of energy to the Cowboys offense.

It is clear that Tony Pollard is the best running back in Dallas after three consecutive declining seasons from former All-Pro running back Ezekiel Elliott. There is still questions in the air about the Cowboys plans with Zeke and his lucrative contract for next season as Zeke is scheduled to take a $16 million cap hit. If Jerry Jones somehow keeps Zeke under that contract I think Cowboys fans will finally overthrow Jerry Jones.

Keeping Pollard was a must for the Cowboys with their lack of offensive weapons not named Ceedee Lamb. With former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore now out of Dallas it should be interesting if Pollard will still be used the way he was last season. Pollard did break his fibula in the divisional round in the playoffs which was a huge reason Dallas was able to retain him but all reports indicate that Pollard should be ready to go for training camp.
