Iowa City, IA (PSF)– The All-Star break and the NBA trade deadline are over, and that means the playoffs are just around the corner.

Teams made the last moves that they thought could put them in the right situation to compete for an NBA title, and the Phoenix Suns are one of those teams that acquired superstar Kevin Durant. The Suns and Durant are targeting his Suns debut on March 1 against the Charlotte Hornets in Charlotte.

If you are unfamiliar with the situation, here’s an update on what you should know.

•Durant has been recovering from an MCL sprain he suffered on January 8th against the Miami Heat

•Kyrie Irving requested a trade and then was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. Rumors circulated over Durant’s future in Brooklyn.

•Durant was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Phoenix Suns with TJ Warren around midnight on February 9 for Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, and four future unprotected first-round picks.

•The Suns are sitting at a record of 32-28 after the All-Star break, which is fifth in Western Conference standings.

The Suns are sitting in a good spot, just a game and a half back from third place in the West.

Durant wanted to remain wearing number seven, but he switched back to wearing number 35 because Kevin Johnson had the number seven retired by the Suns.

There are now so many speculations and what-ifs for Durant’s legacy if he doesn’t win a title with the Suns. Durant teams up with Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton alongside one of the best coaches in the NBA, Monty Williams.

This Suns team made the finals a couple of years back with the same core unit of Paul, Booker, and Ayton. Will Durant be the X-factor that gets them over the hump?
