The Best Duo in the NBA

Boston, Massachusetts (PSF) - The phrase “best duo in the NBA” has been thrown around quite a bit to different duos across the league. Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant have carried this phrase by fans and the media for a few years, but they never got it done. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard were supposed to be this after joining the Clippers together a few years back. LeBron and Anthony Davis were probably the only ones who held this to be true since they won a championship two seasons ago.

After the trade deadline, we saw Irving traded to Dallas to team up with Luka Doncic, and Durant traded to Phoenix to team up with Devin Booker. If there is anything we learned from this past weekend’s All-Star game, it is that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the association’s best duo by a large gap.

Tatum and Brown are having career seasons, making the All-Star game and leading the Celtics to the top seed in the East with a record of 42-17. Tatum is averaging 30.6 points per game (PPG) this season, while Brown is averaging 26.5 PPG. Not to mention that Tatum won the All-Star game MVP by breaking the most points ever scored in the game with 55. Brown also led Team LeBron in scoring with 35 points.

Yes, I know the All-Star game isn’t real basketball, but Tatum and Brown were just in the Finals last season and were two games away from being crowned NBA champions. The scariest part about this duo is how neither of them is in their prime and how young they still are, with Brown being 26 years old and Tatum being 24, soon to be 25 years old. This duo seems to be headed in the right direction this season, and the only thing stopping them from reaching the Finals again is themselves.

With Durant and Irving both out of the East, Boston’s only real threat is Giannis and the Bucks. Tatum and Brown have overcome a ton of adversity following the 2022 NBA Finals loss and hopefully will be getting their fingers sized for championship rings this summer.
