Two years have gone by very fast and the conflict between the Atlanta Hawks and former Head Coach Nate McMillan has shaken up the whole organization. Almost two years ago Nate was the interim Head Coach and the Hawks made the Eastern Conference Finals as the Underdogs. The team looked like a team of the future surrounding the whole league.

How can a team that had so much potential with a lot of the same players and same coach now have a 29-30 record Nate McMillan in 2023. Nate has since lost his job and a lot of people saw it coming.

Back then he was just the interim coach and things looked up for the team; Trae Young was rising, John Collins was rising, also had players such as Clint Capela, Lou Williams, Kevin Huerter, etc that brought some fun to the city of Atlanta. Once he became the official head coach things got sour.

The biggest problem with Nate was his relationship with star player Trae Young. One big example was when the Hawks played the Nuggets Trae Young was getting treatment on his right Shoulder so he would be able to play the game and when Mcmillan asked Trae if he would participate in shootaround Trae said no to solely focus on his shoulder. All hell broke loose and Nate said he can either come off the bench or don’t show up to the arena at all.

Of course Trae missed the game and that was an example of the problems that Mcmillan brought to the gym. Not to mention all the internal problems going on with the team like losing the GM during the season and the owner stepping down.

What’s next for the Hawks? After Nate Mcmillan was fired, the main guy coming up on headlines for the new coaching job is Quin Snyder for head coach. Quin is the former head coach of the Utah Jazz and was actually an assistant coach for the Hawks from 2013-2014. If hired, he will have to figure out what to do with the Trae Young and the rest of the Hawks squad.
