The Triple Threader - Aug. 8, 2022

Welcome to the Triple Threader - where we grab the three highlighting stories of the week in professional wrestling. Here’s what you should know.

Ric flair wins his “Last Match”

Last Sunday proved to be a triumph for the Nature Boy in his final hurrah. A bloodied Ric Flair teamed up with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo (who is married to the two-time Hall of Famer’s daughter, Charlotte) to defeat Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. Afterward, in front of family and friends, he cut a promo briefly reflecting on his career and life, later stating that he hoped he didn’t let anyone down.

Boss & Glow at C2E2

Sasha Banks & Naomi reunited at Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo this past weekend, their first since the infamous walkout on RAW. There are recent reports of the women coming to an agreement with WWE to return, with a scheduled Women’s Tag Team Tournament that could serve as a hint. Fans are eager to see what happens next, so as the old broadcasting term implies, stay tuned.

Karrion Kross comes Back

SmackDown viewers expected a confrontation between Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns ahead of their title bout at WWE’s Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales. What they didn’t expect was the return of Karrion Kross to WWE, this time with the “Fall and Pray” character that he sported in NXT. The former NXT Champion jumped McIntyre then, with his wife Scarlett Bordeaux placing the hourglass in the ring before Kross makes his famous “Tick Tock” gesture. This closing to the show left everyone happily surprised, especially considering the management changes, and certainly left those watching wanting more.
