Yankees’ DJ LeMahieu Says He is 100%
Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu reported to Spring Training 100% healthy avoiding foot surgery in the offseason, after two seasons with injuries arising.
In the 2022 season, the 34-year-old opted for a nonsurgical recovery plan from a foot fracture that ultimately was not able to get healed. This injury forced LeMahieu to miss the postseason for a second year in a row, having ended the 2021 season on the injured list for a hip injury later undergoing surgery for a core injury.
LeMahieu batted .261 in the 2022 season with a .357 OBP and a .734 OPS. He was a big piece missing to the Yankees lineup during the postseason who could have potentially helped the struggling Yankees offense.
When arriving at Spring Training, LeMahieu claimed to be completely healthy and to be able to train without any restrictions on his toe.
LeMahieu was also candid about the changes he will need to make at this stage of his career, specifically when it comes to taking care of his body.
LeMahieu is looking forward to continuing in a utility role with the Yankees and staying healthy in the 2023 season.
