For one of the most competitive soccer leagues, if not the most, in the world, it would have appeared impossible for one team to be clearly prevailing over the nineteen others in January, halfway through the entire championship.

Premises have been, at the moment, debunked by Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City that, after edging the second force in the League, Chelsea, on Friday, drove a 13 points wedge between the two teams.

The match was resolved by Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who drew a potent parable from outside the box that left Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa with nothing to do but pick up the ball out of his goal.

"It's nice to score, it was important as it was the only one," De Bruyne declared after the game. We knew if we won we would make the gap bigger."

However, the situation might partially change as Liverpool, which occupies the third spot in the League, still has two games in hand.

"If Liverpool wins their games in hand it is eight points," Pep Guardiola warned. "So my job is to take out of the heads of the players what people will say."
