A questionable decision has left many people wondering what led to the unexpected sacking of former FC Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsman. Bayern’s latest performances for the team have been leaving doubts, recently losing their title race lead in the Bundesliga against rivals Borussia Dortmund. However, they are still active in all competitions in chances of winning another treble with a quarter-final match against Manchester City in the Champions League, a DFB-Pokal quarter-final matchup against SC Freiburg, and only one point trailing from Dortmund.

So why was Nagelsman sacked?

According to chief executive Oliver Kahn, a move had to be made with the bad performances piling up. Other sources say Nagelsman’s wife had to play a part in the departure of the former coach, with much confidential information being leaked from her wife to the media, leaving many trust issues. The board ultimately decided to act and as well go ahead and grab the hottest manager available, Thomas Tuchel.

In the end, the move could end up being the right one, but with the most crucial games coming up these months, time will tell if it was the right move made for the Bavarians.
