Erik Ten Hag on the Hot Seat

Erik Ten Hag has been under incredible scrutiny this season in regards to Manchester United’s performances as a team. There have been several off-field incidents including forcing players out, such as the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo and club legend David De Gea. In the moment, it seemed as if he was making the right moves but going about it wrong. Though, with United’s struggles this season in net with new addition Andre Onana and the struggles to score goals, it has turned into a backwards move that has haunted Ten Hag this season.

Not only that, but he has forced other players such as Jadon Sancho to find a move away from the club in January. Sancho is not completely the victim in this situation, however, it is odd how a $100 million man in Sancho is yet to get another sniff at even being included in the squad which has forced his hand to find a move away from the club.

Other players on the squad claim that the training sessions are so intense, that is why United have struggled with injuries more than any other team in the Premier League, with a laundry list full of severe, and minor injuries that has hindered the squads ability to compete for any sort of silverware this season.

Now, United has the outside world and the English media berating Ten Hag about his leadership and managerial visions, with multiple reports coming out of the locker room that Ten Hag has lost “at least half of the locker room” with his tactics and style of play.

Key players, such as Raphael Varane, are being held out of the squad’s starting 11 even if healthy. With a player of Varane’s stature, it is worrying to see than Ten Hag has seemingly written him off as an important player with reports that he could even be dealt for funds at the January transfer window.

It is not looking great for Erik Ten Hag’s future at United at this moment, but the resilience of the players within the following games will show just how important it is to have discipline as a manager, or it will show that you need to go in a different direction then Ten Hag. Only time will tell.
