Corinne Diacre Fired by the FFF

Paris, France (PSF) - In a surprising update regarding the equity conflicts I talked about earlier, Corinne Diacre is no longer the French Women’s National Team’s head coach.

Former president Noël Le Graët resigned just last month following claims of sexual harassment, which delayed the decision regarding Diacre. The new president of the French Football Federation (FFF), Philippe Diallo, commissioned an investigation into the claims made by Wendie Renard and others. The executive committee announced Diacre’s fate on March 9. The panel found that a major rift had formed between the players and the FFF, so they had reached a point of no return and had to fire Diacre.

Diacre’s tenure has been controversial since her appointment in 2017. Her biggest controversies included stripping Wendie Renard of captaincy in 2017 before reinstating it in 2021 and leaving Marie-Antionette Katoto off the 2019 World Cup squad. Renard and Katoto were among the players to step back from the national team earlier this month.

Diacre’s replacement has not been confirmed. Renard, Katoto, and Kadidiatou Diani have not announced if they will return to the team.
