Western Conference Round One Results:

Dallas Stars v. Minnesota Wild

The Dallas Stars will advance to the second round after beating the Minnesota Wild in a six game series. Last year, the Stars lost in a seven game series to the Calgary Flames.

Edmonton Oilers v. LA Kings

The Oilers won in a six game series against the LA Kings. This is the second year in a row that the LA Kings have made a first round exit while playing the Oilers. Last year, the Oilers advanced to the Western Conference finals but ultimately lost to the eventual champions, the Colorado Avalanche.

Winnipeg Jets and Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights won in a five game series. The Golden Knights will advance to the second round and face off with the Oilers.

Colorado Avalanche v. Seattle Kraken

In a surprising upset, the two year old franchise bested the defending champions in a seven game series. The Seattle Kraken will advance to the second round and face off with the Dallas Stars.

Eastern Conference Round One Results:

Carolina Hurricanes v. New York Islanders

The Carolina Hurricanes beat the New York Islanders in a six game series. Last year, the Hurricanes lost to the New York Rangers in the second round.

New York Rangers v. New Jersey Devils

Shockingly, the young Devils bested last yearโ€™s Eastern Conference finalists. Although starting off the series by losing their first two games, the Devils turned things around and won in a seven game series. The Devils will advance to the second round and face off with the Hurricanes.

Toronto Maple Leafs v. Tampa Bay Lightning

The Toronto curse has officially been lifted. The Maple Leafs beat the Lightning in a Game 7 OT. This is the first time Toronto has advanced to the second round of the playoffs since 2004. After reaching the Stanley Cup Finals three years in a row and winning back-to-back cups, the Lightning make a first round exit.

Boston Bruins v. Florida Panthers

After having a record breaking season and winning the Presidentโ€™s trophy, the Bruins lost in a seven game series to the Florida Panthers. The Panthers won in a Game 7 OT and will advance to the second round to face off with the Maple Leafs.
