Pacioretty Re-Tears Achillies

Carolina Hurricanes forward Max Pacioretty re-injured his Achillies on Thursday night in the teams 5-2 win over the Minnesota Wild. This comes as another blow to Pacioretty, who has had an injury plagued season, in what is his first in Carolina.

The Hurricanes acquired Pacioretty over the summer from the Vegas Golden Knights, in a move that saw Vegas send Pacioretty and Defenseman Dylan Coghlan to Carolina for Future Considerations. Pacioretty unfortunately tore his Achillies in a non contact injury in one of his skates with the team, and was initially set to return after the all-star. Pacioretty came back earlier than that however, as he only missed the first 38 games of the year.

Once Pacioretty returned, he looked like the player we saw in Vegas and Montreal. However, Pacioretty suffered a minor leg injury which caused him to miss a weekend back to back, and now he sees another setback with his second torn Achilles this year. For the year, Pacioretty will only see five games, scoring three goals during that time.

One has to wonder if the Hurricanes rushed Pacioretty back due to the same injury occurring again. The initial timeline he was given had him returning almost a month and half later than he did, and now, we won’t see him on the ice anymore this season.
