The Boston Bruins have been the best team in the NHL this season ever since the start and are currently at the top of the NHL standings by a 12-point margin. They continued their winning ways on Wednesday night when they traveled to New York and beat the Islanders 4-1 on the heels of their goaltender Linus Ullmark who got his 100th career NHL win.

Ullmark has become the backbone of a very hot Bruins team this season and has proven to be one of the best goalies, if not the best, in the NHL. He currently leads all goalies in the league in wins with 24 to go with an incredible record of 24-2-1. That is great in itself but he also leads in save percentage with .937 and in goals against average as well with 1.88.

The 29-year-old Swedish goaltender was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He played mostly with Buffalo’s AHL affiliate the Rochester Americans until he joined the Sabres full-time in the 2018-2019 season. He left Buffalo in the 2021 offseason and signed a four-year contract worth $20 million with the Boston Bruins. His first game as a Bruin was against the Sabres on October 22, 2021, where he beat his former team 4-1.

Ullmark’s career year has made Boston’s goaltending duo of him, and Jeremy Swayman even better than they were expected to be by most. Ullmark breaking out in such spectacular fashion has already made him a Vezina trophy frontrunner and could very likely win the award at the end of the season.

Ullmark and the Bruins will look to continue their winning ways Thursday night in New York City against the New York Rangers.
