A few minutes into the second period Nicolas Aube-Kube gets an unlikely assist from Justin Faulk after his shot ricocheted off his skate into his own goal. Included above is a picture of Faulk after the unfortunate play.

T.J. Oshie's second goal came during a Washington power play in the second period. Scoring off the setup from Dylan Strome, Oshie launched the puck into the Blues goal scoring the Capital's third goal. At this point in the match, the Capitals now had a two-point lead over the blues.

At the beginning of the third period, Strome scored off a rebound shot from Ovechkin bringing the score to four to one. A few minutes later Oshie scored on an empty goal increasing Washingtons lead to five, while the Blues had two. This goal would be Oshie’s sixth career hat-trick and fourth with the Capitals. He now holds the sixth most hat tricks for a Capitals player. People online and in the arena celebrated with lots of congratulatory remarks for his achievement.

The Capitals won the game with five goals over the Blues two. Oshie achieved his sixth career hat trick and beat the Saint Louis Blues, the team that drafted him. This was just like, NFL player, Jared Goff recently beating the Los Angeles Charges who originally drafted him. It’s looking like the season of revenge for players drafted and traded by their teams.
