NHL Stadium Jerseys Revealed
The NHL has officially released all four jerseys for the Stadium Series games in February. The Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils jerseys both have the same theme of their logos with minor alterations in the coloring. The jerseys are designed by Adidas and have the words “STADIUM SERIES” written on the back.
The Flyers will play the Devils at MetLife Stadium on Feb. 17. The Flyers record for outdoor games is 1-3-1 with their last outdoor game being in Lake Tahoe in 2021.
New Jersey, which has played in only one previous outdoor game, which was in the 2014 Stadium Series at Yankee Stadium, will wear a dark red sweater with black stripes and an uncircled black Devils logo on the front.
The New York Islander’s jerseys are blue with a large orange stripe on the back with the word "ISLES" across it. It is one of the largest chest stripes Adidas has ever made for the NHL. Actually, it is meant to evoke the Plimsoll line painted on the hull of ships. A Plimsoll line is the reference mark on a ships hull that indicates the maximum depth that the boat can go into the water. The Islanders have lost their only previous outdoor game appearance in the 2014 Stadium Series at Yankee Stadium.
The New York Rangers will wear white jerseys which have blue, white and red stripes similar to that of their road jerseys they currently have. The initials "NYR" adorn diagonally in the front with the Rangers famous drop shadow font. New York is 5-0-0 in outdoor games, and they last appeared in the 2018 Winter Classic at Citi Field in New York.
