New York Islanders Wild Card Battle

With the regular season just a few weeks from ending the New York Islanders are racing to make it to a wild card spot. The Islanders just came off a 4-3 overtime win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday and defeated Chicago 2-1 at UBS tonight.

The Islanders have seven games left in the season. They play the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Nashville Predators, the Montreal Canadiens, the New York Rangers (twice), the New Jersey Devils and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Islanders currently have played 75 games and have a record of 33-27-15. They are on a winning streak of two after tonight’s game.

They are one point behind the Washington Capitals (who have one game in hand against them) and two points behind the Philadelphia Flyers (who have played 76 games). Fortunately for the Islanders the Capitals and Flyers are both on current losing streaks.

It will be an interesting end to the season. The Islanders have been up and down this season, but
