Mitch Marner extends point streak to 22 in leafs OT win against Flames

Saturday Night, December 10, 2022. The Calgary Flames faced the Toronto Maple Leafs in Toronto at the Scotiabank Arena. 

During the game, Mitchell Marner extended his point streak to 22 games before scoring 0:43 into overtime, which catapulted the Maple Leafs to a 5-4 win against the Flames. 

The first goal was scored by Maple Leafsโ€™ center Auston Matthews and assisted by William Nylander and Rasmus Sandin during a first period Power-Play. 

At the 9:13 mark, Flamesโ€™ defenseman Noah Hanifin scored a goal assisted by Jonathan Huberdeau and Elias Lindholm. At 12:52, center Nazem Kadri scored the Flames' second goal of the game, which was assisted by Dillon Dube. 

Maple Leafsโ€™ right winger William Nylander scored the second goal of the game during a Power Play, which was assisted by Sandin and Marner, ending the first period 2-2. 

Marnerโ€™s assist in the first period extended his franchise-record point streak to 22 games. He has 11 goals and 19 assists within that stretch. 


During the second period, Flamesโ€™ center Trevor Lewis and Maple Leafsโ€™ Nylander each scored a goal, ending the second period in another tie. 

At 3:31 into the third period, Hanifin scored a goal in Power Play, assisted by Adam Ruzicka and Andrew Mangiapane. About three minutes later, Michael Bunting tied the goal 4-4, with the assist of Matthews and Nylander. 

The game was brought into overtime, and at 0:43, Marner scored a goal in a Power Play, assisted by Nylander and John Tavares. Bringing the final score 4-5, Maple Leafs took the win against the Flams.
