Did the Frozen Frenzy Work?

thehockeynews.com

Last week, all 32 NHL teams played in what they called a “Frozen Frenzy.” It was an action-packed night with 102 goals that started from 6 pm and aired until around 1:30 am. This was a sort of way to try and dabble into what the NFL does on Sundays, the Red Zone.

Overall, it was a lot of fun to watch but definitely something to work on for the NHL. There was a lot of switching back and forth to games that were not having anything very exciting. For example, most games were on for a minute or two until they were switched, making it difficult to really get into any specific game.

There were many things that worked well, also. Many fans got to watch all of the games across the league and get a snippet into every game. It was also marketed very well across many platforms to get more people into hockey watching.

I think it will be very interesting to see if the NHL does this again and what they will do differently if done again.
