Bruins Look for Left Sided Defenseman

The Boston Bruins have been linked to many left sided defenseman. There are two main prospects for the black and gold. One who is offensive minded and a second who is more defensive minded. These player are Vladislav Gavrikov of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Jakob Chychrun of the Arizona Coyotes.

Gavrikov is a defenseman who has only scored three goals and has a total of ten points on the year. Gavrikov is on a struggling team in columbus and he would provide depth to the left side of the defense. He would be most likely replacing Derek Forbort in a straight up replacement of the defensive defenseman. The other possibly is the Bruins will sit the smaller defenseman Matt Gryzleck in the playoffs. Gavrikov would bring a slight upgrade to the black and gold but would not be the type of move most B’s fans would like the organization do.

Jakob Chychrun is a much more offensive all around talented defenseman but with that comes expense in a trade, which the Bruins do not have much of. Chrychrun has seven seven goals and 28 points this year with a +8 for his plus minus. Chrychrun is arguably the best player in Arizona and could be pivotal for a cup run if the Bruins were able to snag him away. In addition to the high asking price, the Bruins only have about one million in cap space right now.

Either option would provide a lot of value to an already strong left side of defense. It is a bit surprising as I view the right side weaker due to Connor Clifton and his potential for an arrow which can ruin you in the playoffs.
