Week Seven Headlines

Packers continue their losing streak, AFC North battle goes in favor of Ravens, Tight ends show out in Chiefs vs. 49ers, Kenneth Walker notches another spectacular game

Heinicke, Robinson come up big in Commanders’ win vs. Packers

Taylor Heinicke is one of the best backup quarterbacks in the league. He throws with confidence and brings the energy that Carson Wentz lacks. Heincke displayed this in the Commanders’ 23-21 win against the Green Bay Packers. His late-game poise helped ice the game for Washington, which Wentz has been primarily criticized for in his career.

Brian Robinson Jr., the victim of a shooting less than two months ago, is starting to establish himself in Washington’s running game. He ended the day with 20 carries for 73 yards.

While Wentz is still projected to be the QB1, Heinicke gives the team reassurance outside Wentz and rookie Sam Howell.

Ravens hold on to victory against Cleveland

One of Baltimore’s main concerns has been their inability to close out games. They have trailed for a total of two minutes this season but were 3-3 coming into this game.

The Ravens nearly let another one slip through their hands again vs. the Browns. However, Cleveland’s late-game mistakes gave Baltimore the win.

Two of the top rushing attacks in the league had a duel on the ground, fitting the nature of old-school, hard-nosed AFC North matchups. Gus Edwards ran for 66 yards and two touchdowns in his first regular season game in nearly two years. Nick Chubb continues to establish himself as the best rusher in the league, adding 91 yards and one touchdown to his season. Jacoby Brissett had a decent game statistically, going 22 of 27 for 258 yards. Nevertheless, the Browns are still waiting for Deshaun Watson to elevate the team with his quarterback play.

Chiefs offense continues to roll in San Francisco victory

While many tight ends disappointed on National Tight End Day, George Kittle and Travis Kelce were the exceptions. Each recorded six receptions for 98 yards on the day. However, it was Patrick Mahomes who once again had the last laugh against the 49ers. Mahomes finished the day with 423 passing yards with three touchdowns to just one interception. This is the third game this season where the Chiefs have scored at least 40 points. The much-hyped AFC West has not been the competitive affair everyone anticipated. The Chiefs still look like the clear favorites to win the division.

Kenneth Walker III is now the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year

There was much concern in Seattle after losing Rashaad Penny for the year. Penny has been their premiere running back since the middle of last season, especially given the retirement of Chris Carson.

Enter Kenneth Walker III, who has encouraged Seahawks fans concerned about Penny’s absence. Walker has grounded 352 yards and four touchdowns in the last three games. The rookie’s latest affair saw him rush for 167 yards and two touchdowns. The Seahawks sit atop the NFC West, and the Broncos look more foolish each given week.
