hot take: THE WORST NFL Celebration Trend
Justin Jefferson is an absolute monster. This guy cannot be stopped and is putting up numbers unmatched by any other receiver this season. He had arguably the greatest catch ever seen in the matchup of the year between the Vikings and Bills Week 10. Forget about George Pickens, forget about Odell Beckham Jr., we as football fans got to witness one of the most acrobatic, βHow the hell did he come down with that,β catches in the history of the NFL. The only problem is, we are not here to talk about that spectacular play. We are here to talk about the celebration that he unleashed early in the game.
If you have not seen this new celebration trend by NFL players, soccer players around the world have also joined the trend. I could have gone my whole life without having to watch this sickening display of disrespect to superstition. If you donβt know what Iβm talking about yet Iβm referring to the new fake injury celebrations. This is a disgusting movement. How could you in your right mind spit in the face of the injury gods by joking about a fake injury. Iβm truly asking someone to help me with this. Why is this cool and funny?
Maybe Iβm just getting too old for this stuff now, but I do not get it. In Week 6 against the Saints, Chase was having another huge performance, but during one of his two touchdown dances, he pulled the fake hamstring injury during his griddy. Only two weeks later, he endured a hip injury and has since missed two games. He is also expected to miss possibly two more games, does not expect to return until Week 13. Itβs that exact situation that can blow up right in your face and have everyone laughing about how silly you were to celebrate that way.
Faking an injury just to go into a twerking celebration is just the cool thing to do, I guess. I will never wish injury on any player that is not a bad human, but these players are just asking for the worst thing to happen at this point. The lesson at the end of the day, if youβre going to taunt fait, you better be ready for any consequences.
Thatβs the clap-trap.
