The Perfect Prospect for Each AFC West Team

The Kansas City Chiefs have won the Super Bowl. Again. Now, they and their division-mates will begin their chase to the next title. In a loaded 2024 draft class, these prospects will be the perfect additions for the division to take the next step.

Los Angeles Chargers: Brock Bowers, Tight End, Georgia

Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers aren't going to look like Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines, plain and simple. This team isn’t built to run the ball like Michigan did, and Los Angeles’ best weapon is their superhuman quarterback. The best thing Harbaugh can do here is to get Justin Herbert some help. The Chargers could very well be tempted by one of this draft’s elite receiving talents as well, but they have a hole at tight end and Bowers possesses upside we’ve never seen from the position.

Denver Broncos: JJ McCarthy, Quarterback, Michigan

The Broncos find themselves in need of a quarterback once more, and if they want to get one this year, it’s not going to be easy. The class's talent at the position is going to drive up trade prices significantly, which is unwelcome news for Denver. Nonetheless, no one really seems to think Sean Payton is going to sit on his hands while his team has a hole at the game’s most important position. JJ McCarthy’s stock is already starting to sizzle, and as more and more become familiar with his game, it will only get hotter from here. McCarthy is smarter than given credit for, but his athleticism and arm talent give him a sky-high ceiling. The fit with Sean Payton seems seamless, but as McCarthy’s stock rises, it becomes more and more likely that Denver will have to get creative to land him.

Las Vegas Raiders: Quinyon Mitchell, Cornerback, Toledo

The Raiders definitely have a need at quarterback, but the price to go get one may well scare Vegas off and convince them to fill other needs. This team desperately needs outside corner help, and the hot hand at the position is Toledo's Quinyon Mitchell. Mitchell just put on a dominant showing at the Senior Bowl, demonstrating next-level athleticism and premier coverage ability. Combine that with top-tier size, and you’ve got a CB1 contender.

Kansas City Chiefs: Troy Franklin, Wide Receiver, Oregon

If you’re a fan of one of the other three AFC West teams, watching the Chiefs win another title was likely excruciating in and of itself. But the incredible thing about Kansas City’s victory was the fact that they did it with almost no real threats at receiver. The Chiefs are almost certainly not going to let that happen again, and if they choose to add a receiver in the draft, they might as well go for the guy who fits his quarterback’s best talent. Franklin comes into the league as a premier deep threat with the potential to be more if his route tree keeps developing. With Rashee Rice’s elite YAC ability, Franklin’s deep ball prowess might make him the perfect partner. Watch out.
