Three keys for the Texans vs Saints in Week 6 game
In Week 5, the Houston Texans took a loss to the Atlanta Falcons 21-19 to go 2-3 on the season. Going into their Week 6, their matchup with the New Orleans Saints is going to be tough, as the Saints are finally fully healthy for just the second time all year and are coming off a 34-0 win against the New England Patriots. With the Saintsβ defense getting healthier and healthier each week, quarterback CJ Stroud will face a real good test in his young career.
Slowing down Alvin Kamara
After facing a three game suspension, running back Alvin Kamara came back to a Saints offense who has been struggling this year and reminded everybody how important he is to the Saints offense. In the Week 5 win over the Patriots he averaged 4.0 yards per carry (YPC) and had a touchdown, although the yards per carry are low the type of player Kamara is the Houston defense has given up 112.4 yards per game to opposing team running backs and have gave up eight rushing touchdowns on the season this matchup is important to the game as if the Texans canβt stop the run game as well as Kamara in the passing game who has 16 receptions on the year in just two games will be a threat that could make or break the day during week 6.
Running game
A key in winning on any given sunday is the running game and for the Texans that did not show up last week against the Atlanta Falcons. As they averaged just 2.8 (YPC) on the ground and could not get anything going as quarterback CJ Stroud threw for more than 35 times in the game. Their leading rusher was Dameon Pierce who had 23 carries for 60 yards, however one third of his yards came on one play which was 15 yards. The Saints run defense is one of the best as they gave given up just 3.9 YPC and have only been scored on once all season.
CJ Stroud Vs Saints secondary
In the early part of the season, Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud has yet to give the ball up in the passing game as he has zero interceptions on the year. Heading into Week 6, he has been playing at a high level looks like the real deal and doing it with a not a true number one receiver and banged up offensive line. In the matchup with the Saints, CJ Stroud will have to go up against all-pro corner Marshon Lattimore and a fast saints defense who has just giving up 15.2 points per game which ranks No. 4 in the whole league, while creating 9 turnovers over the first five weeks of the season.
