MINNEAPOLIS (PSF) - Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson exited a game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a hamstring injury on Oct. 8. There was concern right away about the severity of the injury due to the time Jefferson could miss. On Tuesday, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported Jefferson is set to be placed on injured reserve.

Jefferson has 571 receiving yards and three touchdowns in his first four games and three quarters of the season. His production accounts for a little more than 1/3 of the Vikings' passing offense, so it is safe to say this injury will greatly impact the Vikings' offense. Receivers like K.J . Osborn and rookie Jordan Addison must step up in Jefferson's absence. If they can, this Vikings offense will not lose a step in the passing game.

The Vikings will also need their running game, which has been nonexistent, to step up without Jefferson. If the running game can improve, it will help take stress off the wide receivers. It will be interesting to see the Vikings gameplan without Jefferson for their matchup against the Chicago Bears on Oct. 15.
