Offseason Moves for Each Losing Wildcard Team

Just because you make the playoffs, does not mean your team is perfect by any means. Let's take a look at how the teams that got bounced Wild Card Round Weekend can improve in the offseason.

Seattle Seahawks

After the Russell Wilson trade last offseason, it looked like the Seahawks were heading for a two-to-three-win season. Just the opposite happened, and Geno Smith became a star for them. Geno made his first pro bowl and led his team to a nine-win season, the Seattle Seahawks passed all expectations. Resigning Geno should be a priority for this team and must happen. To add, because of the Russell Wilson trade, the Seahawks now have the fifth overall pick. They also have the twentieth pick from their regular season. If they nail those upcoming picks, look out for Seattle next year.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers on paper have one of the most talented teams in the league. Players like Justin Herbert and Austin Ekeler on offense and Joey Bosa and Derwin James on defense, this team is stacked with talent. This talent though never seems to end up in the win column. The way they ended their season by blowing a twenty-seven-point lead was straight up embarrassing. You also have the fact that Brandon Staley, their Head Coach, playing starters in a meaningless week eighteen game, which caused one of their star wide receivers, Mike Williams to get hurt. In order to improve for next season, the Chargers need to fire most of their coaching staff and get their players under the right leadership.

Baltimore Ravens

What this season showed more than anything for the Ravens, is that they NEED to pay Lamar Jackson. Without Jackson, this team is basically nothing. When he was out, this team greatly struggled and ended their season losing to the Cincinnati Bengals in the playoffs. While the Ravens do have other solid pieces which makes them always a tough team to play, Lamar truly is the glue that holds it all together. Lamar bet on himself last offseason and it paid off in the end as he is ready for payday. Will this payday be by the Baltimore Ravens though?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

What a run it has been for this team. Not only did they get the greatest player of all time in free agency, Tom Brady, but they won a Super Bowl with him. Now though, this team has been on a downfall. While they did win the division, they did so with a losing record. Injuries greatly hurt this team in the regular season and now comes all the offseason trouble. Who will they resign? How much money are they willing to give to certain players? These questions are always tough but need to be answered. What this team needs to most certainly do is resign Tom Brady. No matter how old he is, he still tears up the league and knows how to win. It may only be a one-year deal, but resigning the GOAT is a must for this team.

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings might have been the biggest fraud 13 win team of all time. Everyone knew their record wasn’t a reflection of how good they truly were. Basically every game they were in was close and with a few lucky bounces and plays, they ended up with 13 wins. Those wins didn’t help them in the playoffs though and now the team is sitting home and watching the divisional round from their couch. In order for this to not happen next year, this team must get a defense. The Vikings let up the SECOND most yards per game during the regular season, only behind the Detroit Lions. This team needs defensive weapons to support their dynamic offense. They should look into players like Cameron Sutton and Larry Ogunjobi from the Steelers.

Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins at one point during the regular season were looked at as a top team in the league. Unfortunately, though, injuries occurred. A concussion in week four struck their quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and while many people thought the whole situation with Tua was handled very poorly, he was sent back out. Weeks later he got another concussion. This has now raised the question if Tua should ever step foot on a football field again because of his health. It does seem like he will, but is he the future for the Dolphins at QB. If not, who is? Another issue is their run game; this team finished second to last in rushing attempts and twenty-fifth in rushing yards. A run game is a known key to success and must be addressed in the offseason.
