NFL Pick’em: My Weekly Pick

For those who are just joining us, I’ve entered a NFL Pick’em tournament. The concept is simple, pick one team to win each week, no reusing teams, ties count as losses, if you pick wrong, you’re out, the last man standing gets the pot. Simple enough when its your friends playing, but when it becomes a 50-60 person league and everyone is buying in for $50-$100, you can see the incentive to putting a lot of effort into picking right (6000 reasons not to pick wrong to be exact). Well this year I just so happen to find myself a part of one of these leagues, and I thought it’d be a cool series to keep my viewers updated on just how long I last (hopefully till the end). Each week i’ll post my pick for the week and feel free to follow it, or not, I’m really just trying to have fun (and make some money).

So far we’ve picked SF (week 1) and CLE (week 2)… Last week was full of drama, but believing in Believeland payed off! When Baker went down with shoulder subluxation in the first half, my heart dropped. Luckily, he only needed one shoulder to squeak out another win and bring us one week closer to being the last man standing! Unfortunately, a lot of other pickers had the same idea and 80% of the tournament ended up also going with the Browns (maybe they’re reading the newsletter). Fact of the matter is everyone picked right so the same 48 people we started last week with still remain. Now you may be wondering why this newsletter is coming so early in the week, so lets get into it…

My Pick for Week 3: Carolina Panthers (@Hou)

The Carolina Panthers are a team that have been really interesting this year. After squeaking out a win versus the Jets, they handled the Saints with ease in a game I really thought was going the other way. They’ve put together a solid defense and Sam Darnold seems like he is really benefitting from the change of scenery in Carolina. All things considered, I think these could be the guys who end up letting me down but we’ll see. Houston is playing with a backup QB in Davis Mills who didn’t look very good last week in relief or during preseason. Let’s hope we can get the dub early in the week so we can just focus on Fantasy Football this weekend! Hope to see you back here next week!
