Dallas Cowboys: Predictions for the rest of the 2021 season

2021 could potentially be a special year for the Dallas Cowboys with already two games under their belt and the third fast approaching. The Cowboys finished last year with 6-10 but saw their season crumble before their eyes as Dak Prescott was carried off the field in October due to a devastating ankle injury. But it’s a new year and a new season. To start off, Dak is back and completely healthy, and the defense has some new fresh faces and talent to help turn around their team. Quarterback Dak Prescott is now back and with a new contract. And that means new expectations, which means anything can happen this year. With the 2021 season kicking off already, with an extra game, for Dallas, and Prescott ready to get back in action it appears the Cowboys seem better and well prepared than they’ve been in the past.

So what will 2021 bring the Dallas Cowboys? Well for starters, after their opening season game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it’s clear that the Cowboys are doing everything they can to bring the fire. No one thought the outcome of the 2021 NFL season opener would have the turn out that it did. The Cowboys had a shocking and brief lead on the Buccaneers in the final moments of the game on September 9. And after the Cowboys left the field, everyone was in awe of their performance.

In the Cowboy’s second game they came out with a win over the LA Chargers 20-17. Another win that the fans didn’t really speculate. So already the Cowboys have exceeded their expectations and have shown that they could potentially be a new team this year. Coach McCarthy has already stated he’s excited about the new team he’s got when he turned down the opportunity to take on ex-Patriot Cam Newton. Ultimately, there’s a lot of talent here on the Dallas Cowboys team roaster-wise.

But even after their brief lead at the season opener and their win on Sunday, there’s still a lot to work on. It’s no secret that it’s been a while since anyone has used the term “brilliant” when talking about the Dallas Cowboys defense. Historically the Cowboys have had bad years in the past. Historically bad last year, and coming off a season opener in which it surrendered 31 points, and plus the team lost starting ends Demarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory to COVID-19 protocols.

But perhaps their most impressive performance in a couple of years was the Cowboys’ defense refused to give up against the Chargers, repeatedly turning them away on route to a 20-17 victory.

And something else to look at is DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory, which one of the two will become the Cowboys’ sack leader? Well, these two are the best defensive linemen they’ve got and both are up in the double digits on sacks. With Gregory on the rise of playing his first full season ever, he seems to have a better chance at getting up and even crossing the double-digit sack threshold.

Then there’s the Cowboys’ final record. The Cowboys have played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the LA Chargers with both games having them at 1-1. Los Angeles, Denver, Arizona, and New England are a few teams in the Dallas Cowboy 2021 schedule, and these are teams that Dallas traditionally hasn’t been able to beat. Tampa was already a difficult opponent with Tom Brady on the field. But the rest of the schedules involves Minnesota, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Kansas City, and truly those are toss-up games. These teams are fairly even matchups where the Cowboys could pull what they did with the Chargers. And even watching the season opener against Tampa, the Cowboys gave one good fight where they weren’t easy to beat as much as people had predicted. It’s said the Cowboys have the best record in the division, but that’s only gonna come from winning half the divisional games. But if the Dallas Cowboys play their cards right, looking at all the teams in their schedule they could win the season sweep between the Eagles and the Giants, along with winning against Carolina, Minnesota, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Arizona, and winning against Washinton once, that would put them up at 10 wins. Even with New England, New Orleans, and Denver being a fair matchup, the Dallas Cowboys could possibly have 13 wins this 2021 season.

After going over it all, it’s clear that even though the Dallas Cowboys have had problems over the years, there’s a possible spark of a new team arising, After what they’ve already shown against Tampa Bay and the Chargers, it seems that the Cowboys have turned lots of heads and there’s a chance they may become the new fan favorite.
