Joe Burrow Out for Season with Wrist Injury
The Bengals' path to the postseason just got harder, as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport announced that quarterback Joe Burrow is out for the season with a torn ligament in his right wrist.
Burrow suffered the injury during the 2nd quarter of the Thursday night game against the Baltimore Ravens when Jadeveon Clowney tackled him. He exited with a 10-7 lead, and Baltimore proceeded to outscore Cincinnati 27-10 for the remainder of the game. Burrow could be seen attempting to throw the football around on the sidelines, but his wrist could not follow all the way through.
Head Coach Zac Taylor says “this season is far from over.” Jake Browning, the Bengals back up quarterback who finished the game last night, will step in for Joe Burrow and attempt to do the impossible improbable. Browning has the supporting cast to string together some wins, but lacks the experience as an NFL starter, never having started in the NFL.
With the loss against the Ravens, Cincinnati’s chances of winning the division all but evaporated, and with Joe Burrow’s injuries, the postseason looks bleak.
