Is The Brady Curse Real?

Is the Tom Brady curse actually a thing? Last Sunday, after showing promise with the offense and composing some good scoring drives, Patriots QB Mac Jones left the game with an apparent ankle injury.

The Patriots lost to the Ravens 37-26 in what many think was a game within reach. At times the score was very close, and going into the fourth quarter, up for grabs for anyone. But three Mac Jones interceptions in the last thirteen minutes quickly changed things. The biggest loss, though, was that of Mac Jones himself after he went down with an ankle injury.
Since he suffered the injury, this sprain has been under the microscope of all analysts and fans. The severity of this issue has been kept under wraps, and we still don’t know how long Mac Jones will be out for, or if he will even miss any time at all.
Conflicting reports suggest that Mac Jones will be out at least 4-5 weeks, whereas some say there’s a chance he plays this upcoming Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Obviously with the Patriots there is going to be a lot left unsaid and kept within the organization, but this is still a little strange. Mac Jones has been known to be a tough competitor, but this still obviously isn’t ideal as the Patriots try to find their groove on offense in their first year without long term coordinator Josh McDaniels.

Could this be another sign of a “Brady curse?” Many seem to think so. Since Tom Brady left the Patriots back in 2020, the Patriots have seen a great lack of success. In two years without the Hall of Fame QB, they missed the playoffs and had a losing record in one, and got demolished in their first playoff game in the other. This year, they are off to a 1-2 start and things are definitely not looking good offensively.
Now with the loss of Mac Jones, they could be in for a much longer season full of trials. The Patriots have seen a lot of inconsistency on both the offense and defense, something that wasn’t there in the twenty years Brady was with the team. Brady has gone on to a Pro Bowl and of course has a Super Bowl win with the Buccaneers, enjoying life and all the weapons he has to throw to in Tampa Bay.
Now with many questions moving forward, could the Belichick led Patriots bounce back? Or could this be another version of the “Curse of the Bambino” for another New England sports franchise?
