The Giants have struggled mightily this year with a record of 2-5 throughout the first seven games of the season. The offensive line has been the biggest struggle for New York this year, along with the quarterback play of Daniel Jones. The offense has not been able to get out of their own way to start this rough season for Big Blue. On the other hand, the past two weeks have been pretty impressive for the Giants the past couple of weeks against the Bills and the Commanders. In the Buffalo Bills game even though it did not result in a win New York held the Bills scoreless through the first three quarters of the game and finished the game with only 14 points. In the following week, the Giants held Washington to only 7 points total in a winning effort. The defense has impressed as of late due largely to defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. Martindale has put players in the right spots as of late and has let players like Deonte Banks, Leonard Williams, and Dexter Lawrence play to their strengths. The linebacking core has also been very impressive for New York this season with newly acquired linebacker Bobby Okereke who has been ranked in the top 10 by PFF this season for linebackers. Rookie Deonte Banks has also been key to the team’s success as well and it seems like they have found a cornerback for the future. Seeing how the defense can improve even more throughout the season can be key for the Giants going forward as they will look to sure up the offensive side of the ball in the offseason.
