Doesn't get much worse than this

The New York Jets suffered one of their most embarrassing losses in franchise history Sunday as they were annihilated 54-13 by the New England Patriots. The Jets have had their fair share of blowout losses but this one felt extra depressing. Coming off a bye you’d expect the Jets to look somewhat prepared for a team that they faced just a few weeks prior but that wasn’t the case. It should be noted that Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley was inactive due to an injury and his absence was felt early and often. In what seemed to be a blink of an eye the Jets were down 17-0 in the 1st quarter. To make matters worse, rookie quarterback Zach Wilson went down in the opening minutes of the 2nd quarter with what is now being diagnosed as a PCL sprain. Jet fans had to watch the future of their franchise limp off the field and into the locker room. With him he carried the slim hopes for a second half comeback. It was a horrible day for Jet fans as it seems like this franchise is just going in circles.

The Jets finished the game gaining under 300 yards of total offense while giving up over 500 yards to the below-average Patriots offense. Former Jets head coach Rex Ryan had some inspired words to say about the loss.“You saw a team that knows what the hell they’re doing, the coaching staff with a rookie quarterback, the New England Patriots,” Ryan said. “[Mac Jones] looks like a seasoned pro. You look at the other side, you’ve got a horrendous coaching staff with a quarterback [Zach Wilson] that looks 100% lost.”

Ryan does have plenty of ground to stand on considering he was the last coach to lead the Jets to the playoffs in 2010.

There are a few bright spots on the team including rookie left guard Alijah Vera-Tucker who has been surpassing expectations. He hasn’t allowed a sack since Week 4 and ranks 3rd best amongst left guards with a pressure rate of just 1.6%.

We are only in week 8 of the NFL season and once again the Jets are already looking forward to the draft. Mike White will step in for the injured Wilson and will quarterback the Jets on Sunday when they face the red hot Cincinnati Bengals. Jet fans should prepare themselves for what looks to be another blowout on the horizon.
