Detroit, Michigan (PSF) – Wide receiver Denzel Mims has been waived by the Detroit Lions after only being on the team a month. The Lions received Mims via trade with the New York Jets in exchange for a conditional sixth-round draft pick.

The trade’s value leveraged on Mims making the 53 man roster which means both the Lions and Jets received the draft picks involved in the trade back.

Mims was released after suffering an ankle and calf injury in training camp and will become a unrestricted free agent now after being waived.

Lions coaching staff was impressed during training camp by Mims production and was going to look like a bright spot on this up and coming Lions roster heading into the 2023 NFL season.

This move hurts the Lions receiving room even more with star wider receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown suffering an ankle injury and Jameson Williams suffering a hamstring injury on top of his pre-existing suspension for the beginning of the season.

After this move, the Lions receiving corps at the beginning of the season will be Marvin Jones Jr., Josh Reynolds, and Amon-Ra St. Brown if his injury is not as serious as the coaching staff is reporting.
