Déjà Vu Strikes for the Jets

Entering the 2023 NFL Season, it may have seemed that the New York Jets finally had a chance to end the current longest playoff drought in the NFL. And now it may seem like that drought could possibly continue for the Jets. New York has just found out that they have to continue with Zach Wilson once more now that Aaron Rodgers has been placed on Injured Reserve due to a torn achillies that will force him to miss the rest of the season and watch from the sidelines.

Go back to 1999 and the Jets faced a similar situation on Week 1. The Jets were favorites in the AFC and entire NFL with Vinny Testaverde as their starting QB coming off a Pro Bowl Season. The Jets played against the New England Patriots and during the game Vinny Testaverde left the game with a lower body injury which ended up becoming a torn achillies as well. Is history repeating itself for the New York Jets or is it a coincidence?
