Chiefs vs Jaguars Week 2 Preview
The defending Super Bowl champs come into Florida looking to get their first win against a highly potent offense in the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kansas City's game against the Detroit Lions showed how much this team needs tight end Travis Kelce, and the return of defensive lineman Chris Jones will be a massive help for the Chiefs to get back on the right track.
Keys for Chiefs
The offense has to step up this week, mainly the wide receivers, week one was a forgettable week for this receiving core as they dropped many passes and struggled to create long drives without Mahomes best target in tight end Travis Kelce. If the Chiefs want to keep pace with the Jags, they need to find a way to put up points, and the wideouts have to play a massive part in this game and figure out a way to get more separation to make the Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes job a lot easier. With Chris Jones's return, the Chief's defensive line must wreck the Jaguars' run game, get to Trevor Lawrence early and often, and make his life hard this week.
The Jaguars won in week one against a rival, the Indianapolis Colts. This game showed off quarterback Trevor Lawrence's dangerous new weapon in wide receiver Calvin Ridley he looks to continue his dominance against a Kansas City defense that isn’t known for shutting guys down. Running back Travis Etienne also had a big day, running for 77 yards with a touchdown in week one, which proved enough to get a win in week one, 31-21.
Keys For Jaguars
The Jaguars need to continue to get the ball to wide receiver Calvin Ridley as he looked all like the receiver he was before he was suspended and then some dominating last week’s game against the Colts. Trevor Lawrence also needs to get wide receiver Christian Kirk involved more, as he only saw three targets for 9 yards on the day. Running back Travis Etienne faired very well last year in the divisional round, running for 109 yards in the playoff game. If he can put forth a similar performance, this can open up the game for Trevor Lawrence and that offense.
Prediction
You have to expect the Chief’s offense to have a bounce-back game and do enough to get the win by a score of 34-27 in a high-scoring affair that could see a lot of points.
