Deandre Hopkins's Tenure in Arizona Short-lived?
Glendale, Arizona (PSF) — After a dispirited NFL season for the Arizona Cardinals, only more questions keep being asked about their future.
According to Jordan Shultz of the Score, The Arizona Cardinals are allegedly planning to try and trade star wide receiver Deandre Hopkins during the offseason.
Deandre Hopkins was suspended for the first six games of the regular season due to the violation of the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs, but finished the rest of the season with 64 catches on 96 targets, 717 receiving yards, and three touchdowns in the nine games he played.
During his career, Hopkins has put up great numbers, totaling 853 catches, and 11,298 receiving yards with 71 touchdowns with Houston and Arizona.
In the three years that Hopkins has played in Arizona, he has only played in 35 of 53 games as a Cardinal. There have not been any reports out as of today that state that his availability, could be a factor in moving Hopkins.
After finishing the regular season last in the NFC West with a 4-13 record, the Arizona Cardinals are searching for new leaders in a head coach and general manager.
General Manager Steve Keim also stepped down, but was on a health-related leave of absence since mid-December.
With the search for a new general manager, Owner Michael Bidwill plans on expressing the idea of moving Deandre Hopkins to each candidate. Hopkins still being one of the best receivers in the league gives Arizona some especially with the trade value that receivers bring.
The Tyreek Hill trade to Miami from Kansas City helped set the tone for trade value on receivers with Hill being traded for a first-rounder, a second-rounder, two-fourths, and a six-round pick. With that, Hopkins is worth way more than the second, and fourth rounder he was traded for by Houston in 2020.
Where could we potentially see Deandre Hopkins play next year? Well, some options would be the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, and the Chicago Bears who have the first overall pick in the NFL draft and could make some noise later by trading that pick.
These specific teams need a receiver during the offseason and could make some noise to achieve Hopkins if the Cardinals do actually move him.
Will it happen or will Deandre Hopkins stay in Arizona for another season?
