Chiefs Meet Broncos in Week 8 AFC West Rematch

After only a two-week turnaround, the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos are scheduled to battle each other once again. Both teams were left with a bad taste in their mouth after their last game, as the Broncos struggled once again on the offensive side of the ball and the Chiefs felt as though their win was ugly and unacceptable. With a score of 19-8 in the last game, both teams are looking to have a better performance as they take the field in Denver this Sunday at 4:25 ET.

Both teams certainly had a rebound performance this past week, as both parties secured a win in their games. The Broncos beat the Green Bay Packers 19-17 in a game that the Broncos are pleased with, but they still understand the game could have gone either way. As for the Chiefs, they sported a 14-point win versus their division rival the Los Angeles Chargers. After a close first half, the Chiefs dominated the second half for a win that fans could be proud of.

The Broncos certainly showed improvement in their outing versus the Packers, but it still left a lot to be desired. They ran the ball well, but who hasn’t against the Packers defense ranked 32nd in rush yards allowed. Wilson did what he needed to do to win, but his place in Sean Payton’s offensive scheme still seems to be unclear. The defense held the Packers offense to only 17 points, but this offense is led by Jordan Love and does not feature anyone over the age of 25. Bottomline, it was a good Denver win that they needed to get the season on track, but it certainly was not impressive.

As for the Chiefs, this team is beginning to be dangerous. The defense has been consistently great all season. Even when Mahomes and company have only been putting up 19 points, the defense has kept their team afloat. The defense did this once again, having an especially great showing in the second half, but this time, the offense got in on the party. Mahomes threw for over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns in what would come to be the Chiefs’ best offensive performance of the season. This win was everything Chiefs fans could ask for, and if the offensive continues to play with this consistency alongside the defense, this Chiefs team is scary.

Based off these past two weeks, how do these teams match up? Well, the easy and obvious answers is that the Chiefs are easily the better team. Other than Nick Bolton, the Chiefs are a healthy team that are really beginning to find their stride. The Broncos, on the other hand, are more beaten up with a worse coaching staff that has not yet found an identity for the team. The Broncos will certainly put up a fight, but if the Chiefs play like they did last week versus the Chargers, this game will not resemble the previous meetup in any way. Vance Joseph will have no answer for the Chiefs offense, and the struggling Broncos offense that only mustered 19 points versus the Packers struggling and injured defense will not be able to compete with the Chiefs defense.

We can all hope though because it would be fun to put an end to this.
