The Philadelphia Eagles and a Championship Pedigree
Week 9 saw the Philadelphia Eagles play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in an extremely close contest. The experience and leadership found on the Eagles is a huge factor for the team, one that allows them to win these close games. This experience comes especially on the defensive side of the ball, where they always come up with the stops that they need, whenever they need them.
Late in this game, the Cowboys marched down the field into the red zone. Many fans on different social media platforms put up posts saying that Dallas had won the game, expecting this team to get points from this drive. The Eaglesโ โbend, donโt breakโ philosophy on defense got the Cowboys into a fourth-down situation, where Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott connected with tight end Luke Schoonmaker for a gain, but not enough to score after a tackle from safety Reed Blankenship.
The Eaglesโ offense has struggled at times throughout the season, but Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is known to come through in tough situations and get the job done in close games. Wide receiver AJ Brown is also notching a career year, and making history while doing so. He has set the record for the most consecutive games with 120 receiving yards in NFL history. Bringing Brown over in a draft-night trade with the Tennessee Titans last season has proved to be a savvy and fantastic move by Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. The addition of Brown has taken Jalen Hurtsโs play to another level, and has put them in the conversation as consistent Super Bowl contenders.
The Eagles have a tough test in the next few weeks, facing the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys all within a month. If they make it out of this stretch with only one or two losses, they will be drawing many eyes as a dominant force heading into the playoffs.
