Can the Eagles Break the NFC East Curse?
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PSF) - For the last twenty years there has been a curse in the NFC East division of the NFL. That being, there has not been a consecutive winner in back to back years for the last twenty years. It’s crazy to think about when you consider the history of all four teams in this league, but to me this shows why the NFC East is the best division in the entire NFL.
Last year the NFC east showed why it was the best division in football with three teams representing the division in the NFC conference playoffs. The Washington Commanders being the only one to miss the playoffs still had a .500 record at 8-8-1. Just two years ago the winner of this division was 7-9. That goes to show why this streak has been unbreakable for the last twenty years. Every year it seems like the winner of the previous year should win it the following year, but one of the other three teams ends up having an amazing year the following. This showed with Dallas in 2021, they looked like they would easily win the NFC East in 2022 but out of nowhere came the Eagles and Giants. Philly obviously had a record breaking year going to the Super Bowl, but the Giants under Brian Daboll were not easy to beat.
The question now looms, will the Eagles hold on in 2023 to break this curse and finally have a repeat winner of this division? My money would bet on this team breaking it, based off there talented roster, but the Cowboys and Giants both had significant offseason additions to their squads. Dallas could be the ones to keep this curse alive, but I would watch out for Brian Daboll’s Giants.
