Browns vs Steelers Made Me Understand The Bills Perfection

Yes, the Browns vs Steelers game made me think about the bills. How weird is that?

The Bills are the best team in football by a mile, and it's not even close to these teams that we saw on Thursday night, but the biggest thing I learned is how the bills have perfected the style of offense we saw on full display in Thursday Night Football.

Jacoby Brissett and, to a slightly lesser degree Mitchell Trubisky relied on short throws, and quick timing passes to get down the field and score touchdowns. The Bills aren't just looking to score touchdowns with this strategy. They're looking to get first downs on every play and let the receivers take full control of the action. Tom Brady is the one player that is perfected this strategy for the last decade of his career. As he has gotten older, he has to rely on his receivers more and make quicker decisions to avoid sacks or, God forbid, injury (This is a huge reason Tom Brady is the Greatest of all Time).

Josh Allen himself is a rather mobile quarterback and doesn't necessarily have to do this. This style of offense with Sean McDermott and quote looks like a well-oiled beautiful machine. Not all of that is just Josh Allen making quick decisions. You also have Gabe Davis, and who can forget Stefon Diggs, whose run-after-catch ability makes a tremendous difference.

Ultimately though, the biggest reason for this strategy is to limit the ability of the defensive line to get in the backfield and create pressure or sacks. Quarterbacks only have 2.5 seconds to get the ball on average, especially with the kind of defensive lineman we have in the league now. All teams understand this, but not enough teams realize that this quick style of offense is not boring/pointless football when done right.

It's pure, beautiful entertainment that is only served for the best in the league, and right now, that is the Buffalo Bills.
