MVP: Rodgers or Brady?

With the 2021 NFL season nearing a close, one question that’s on many NFL fans minds is who will take home the honor of NFL MVP. With just one week remaining in the regular season, many believe that Aaron Rodgers is the clear cut MVP, with Tom Brady close behind.

Rodgers hasn't thrown an interception since week 10 and has led the Packers to a 13-3 record this year. With this, He’s thrown 35 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions along with 3,977 passing yards this season. He’s built quite the resume for his MVP run, not to mention he’s gone 8-0 at Lambeau this year.

But, Brady’s numbers are not much different, and in fact are better in almost every category. Brady has led the Bucs to a 12-4 record this year, and has accumulated 4,990 passing yards, 40 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Brady leads the league in both touchdown passes and passing yards this season. He, too, has built quite the resume for his MVP run this season.

Many lean in favor of Rodgers due to the idea that he has less to work with, and is more of an asset to his team. But, many fail to realize that the Bucs have struggled with injuries throughout the entire season, both on offense and defense.

Antonio Brown, who has now been released, missed 9 games this season. Rob Gronkowski missed 5 games, and they are now without Chris Godwin and Leonard Fournette throughout the playoffs. Not to mention their defense has been battling injuries all season.

With all this being said, despite the great season Aaron Rodgers has had this season, Tom Brady’s value has definitely been overlooked. But one big week can change that, and in time we shall see who reigns victorious when it comes to the NFL’s 2021 NFL MVP. This leaves us with the question, who will get their fourth MVP and who will move into second place for most NFL MVP’s of all time; Tom Brady, or Aaron Rodgers?
