Are We Forgetting About Travon Walker?

Jacksonville, Florida (PSF) - I feel like a lot of us NFL fans are forgetting about the former number one overall pick from the 2022 draft which was Travon Walker. The former number one pick did not have a great season compared to the players taken after him, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Walker came into the 2022 draft as a projected late first round pick to early second round pick, but had an outstanding combine which boosted his draft stock to be taken first overall. Walker was seen as a project player at the time and a lot of people questioned the pick. Jacksonville obviously was selecting first overall and Detroit was selecting second overall. The second best prospect in this class who was also a Heisman finalist was defensive end Aidan Hutchinson out of Michigan.

Hutchinson made a lot of comments leading up to the draft about how he would love to play for Detroit to turn their franchise around and be coached by Dan Campbell. Jacksonville could have taken him regardless of what comments he made and he would still be happy as a rookie. Instead Jacksonville went the opposite route taking Travon Walker.

For me personally, I am rooting for Walker this season because a lot of people have doubts about him and are already writing him off as a bust after one year. If Walker truly is a project player then this is his season to show the world what he has after a full offseason and training camp in Jacksonville and some experience in the league.
