In a surprise turn from the preseason ranking of the wide receivers in the AFC South. Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has put together a really good first half to his 2023 season has he has put up 33 receptions on 48 targets to go along with 577 yards and has scored three touchdowns on the year to keep the Houston Texans playoff chances still alive as they have a record of 3-4 as they enter Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Texans entered the season with not a lot of expectations as many people thought the Texans would be horrible and be fighting for the first pick and not a playoff spot.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. comes in on second on the list as he has put together a decent season. He has 50 receptions on 78 targets with 529 yards in the air and three touchdowns. For the Colts he has been the most reliable receiver on the team over the last few years. In 2023 Pittman and the Colts have been through two different quarterbacks as quarterback Anthony Richardson is out for the season and backup Gardner Minshew is taking over, Pittman has yet to miss a beat and is on pace to secure a 1,000-yard season.

3. Christian Kirk, Jaguars

One of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ great pickups from two offseason ago in wide receiver Christian Kirk is paying off. The 26-year-old is having a great season for a number 2 option in front of wide receiver Calvin Ridley. On the year Kirk has 43 receptions to go along with 520 yards and three touchdowns and has been a huge part of the Jaguars’ 6-2 start to the season and their five-game winning streak. As the Jaguars enter their bye week in week 9 the Jaguars receiver leads the team in yards and will look to build on a solid start to the year when in week 10 the Jaguars host the San Francisco 49ers in a highly anticipated matchup.

In the 2023 offseason the Jacksonville Jaguars acquired star wide receiver Calvin Ridley in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons. The hype around the new Jaguars receiver was real as he had missed the whole 2022 season due to a suspension. The excitement was the new star in Jacksonville was thought during Week 1 when Ridley had 8 receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown in his Jaguars debut against the Indianapolis Colts. Since Week 1 Ridley has not lived up to what everyone thought he would be as in Week 2 through Week 8 Ridley has just 25 receptions and 350 yards and just one touchdown. The Jaguars enter Week 9 on their bye week and Ridley will look to have a huge second half of the year and make the 6-2 Jacksonville Jaguars even more dangerous.

5. DeAndre Hopkins, Titans

As bad as the Tennessee Titans have played to start the 2023 season out, they still sit at 3-5 record as will look to see if rookie quarterback Will Levis is the real deal. For wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins the new quarterback change might be something in his favor for the rest of the year. In week 8 Hopkins had just 4 receptions but made the most of all them as he accounted for 120 yards and had a hat trick with three touchdowns receptions. DeAndre Hopkins still has a lot left in the tank as on the year he has 35 receptions and 564 yards and is still a major worry for opposing defense.
