AFC East Week 9 Recap

The AFC East has been in a close battle all year and with nine weeks in the battle for the first-place spot in the division is lighting a flame. The division is still up for grabs but for now, let’s see how each team in the AFC East has done so far.

Washington Commanders 20, New England Patriots 17

Let’s get started with the New England Patriots. The worst team in the entire AFC and the worst start of the season since the 2000 season. The offense has collapsed, injuries have taken a toll on the defense, and much more.

It might be the truth that we all think that we know that the Patriots are easily in rebuild mode and are already looking forward to the NFL Draft. The Patriots have money to spend in the offseason and most likely a high draft pick let’s see how the Pats do going into next year.

The Patriots did not do themselves any favors and it showed at the end of the game with the many penalties and the dropped catch that led to an interception.

Kansas City Chiefs 21, Miami Dolphins 14

Miami has yet to win against a team that has a winning record. While the Dolphins are still the best team in the AFC East, they have yet to prove that they can really win games which is the issue. They have lost to Buffalo, Philadelphia and now Kansas City. This is the same team that managed to score 70 points in a game and they have yet to win against any real competition. While the Dolphins aren’t exactly “frauds” it is something to keep an eye out for.

Cincinnati Bengals 24, Buffalo Bills 18

Buffalo is in a very strange position. They either good or they are bad and while they did not get blown out by the Bengals. They did not help themselves by any means. The Bengals have been playing much better than the start of the season and it has shown. Buffalo is definitely missing Tre’Davious White who is out with a season-ending injury and someone like Tremaine Edmunds who left to go play for the Chicago Bears last offseason.

Bills currently are third place in the division and it is a wait-and-see moment to see how they play out.

New York Jets vs Los Angeles Chargers (Monday Night Football)

The Jets have been a very confusing team, to say the least. They are either good or they are bad. Not in between. While Wilson has been playing very well for the team, he has also made some questionable throws. The defense for the Jets has played very well and the only concern for New York is the quarterback position after Aaron Rodgers went down with a torn Achilles on the opening drive of Week 1.

AFC EAst Standings

  1. Miami Dolphins (6-3)

  2. New York Jets (4-3)

  3. Buffalo Bills (5-4)

  4. New England Patriots (2-7)
