Deshaun Watson being disciplined lightly is the nfl’s worst nightmare
March 20th, Deshaun Watson was traded from the Houston Texans to the Cleveland Browns for three first round picks, a fourth, and fifth round pick in 2023 and 2024.
Fast forward later in the summer to June 1, Deshaun Watson is currently facing 24 open civil lawsuits against him from women claiming things were handled inappropriately.
Nonetheless, as of today 20 of those 24 civil lawsuits have been dismissed against Deshaun Watson resulting in him having four current civil lawsuits against him as training camp quickly approaches. Although 20 of those 24 lawsuits have been dismissed from several different women, the NFL has to set a precedent and say this is unacceptable regardless of how lengthy the suspension may be.
Suspending Watson three or four games doesn’t enforce to the players and everyone associated with the NFL that this behavior is unacceptable. The origin of where the 24 proposed lawsuits came from dates all the way back to 2020 prior to Watson demanding a trade from the Houston Texans. All 24 women accused Deshaun of inappropriate sexual misconduct during massage sessions, all while he was actively playing for the Houston Texans.
In conclusion, allowing Deshaun Watson on the field rather quick for the 2022 NFL season would signify the NFL values TV revenue and money over what the correct thing to do is.
