Washington Commanders Release Carson Wentz
North Englewood, MD (PSF) — Not even a few years ago, Carson Wentz was one of the best quarterbacks in the National Football League. Prior to his injury with the Eagles in the 2017 season, Wentz was on track to become League MVP. Even after his injury, Wentz was expected to make a huge comeback and be the player he once was.
On April 29, 2019, the Eagles exercised Wentz’s fifth year option and extended him to a 4-year, $128 million contract with $107 million guaranteed. Unfortunately, Wentz didn’t live up to this contract and in Week 13 of the 2020 season, he was benched for Jalen Hurts. Once he was benched, his time in an Eagles uniform was all but over. He was then traded to the Colts on March 17, 2021, and played one full season as the starter there. Like back in Philadelphia, he didn’t live up to expectations and the Colts traded him to the Commanders. After a season full of injuries, he was then released by the Commanders yesterday.
After bouncing team to team the past few years, where will Wentz end up for the 2023 season?
