The Cinderella Story of March Madness
Every March Madness, we will get a Cinderella story of a team that makes it far in the tournament. Saint peter’s Peacocks is the Cinderella story in March Madness 2022.
Saint Peter’s is a private Jesuit university located in Jersey City, New Jersey. It's a small school with 2,800 students. The school has been showing the Peacocks their full support as they continue to break the brackets in the tournament.
Saint Peter’s have been making their way through March Madness by defeating two top level division one schools. The Peacocks were the #15 seed in the East bracket and played the #2 seed Kentucky Wildcats. The Peacocks shocked the world when they defeated the Wildcats 85-79 in overtime. The Peacocks showed toughness and grit against the Wildcats.
The Peacocks showed that they are a legit team in the tournament by defeating the #7 seed Murray State 70-60. The Peacocks are showing that they are not intimidated by anybody. Saint Peter’s are now having to face the #3 seed Purdue Boilermakers. The best part about it is it's in Philadelphia. From Jersey City to Philadelphia is 91 miles. Friday night will be Peacock nation and the fans will show out to support their team.
The Peacocks are led by KC Ndefo, Darryl Banks III and Doug Edert. With Matthew Lee running the point guard for the Peacocks and backup point guard Jaylen Murray, they are running the show for the Peacocks.
Peacocks head coach Shaheen Holloway is doing a great job keeping his players battle tested during the tournament. Holloway played high school basketball for powerhouse St Patrick's school. He went on to play College basketball for Seton Hall where he holds the all-time assist record. Holloway will be getting looked at as a potential head coach at a top university with all the vacant head coaching jobs.
Breaking brackets is a part of March Madness and we witness Cinderella stories. We are witnessing Saint Peter’s showing that they can compete with the best of the best.
St Peter’s ended up losing to UNC in the elite eight and their story was over. Big props to the peacocks for showing heart and determination throughout the tournament.
